Foundation Review: Yves St Laurent Le Teint Touche Éclat

So I've been using the Yves St Laurent foundation for about six weeks now and I even used it for my graduation. I've really enjoyed wearing it and I'm going to go ahead and dive into a full review.

This me using the foundation for  an every day look, its so natural looking and it comes in such beautiful gold packaging.

The bottle is a sleek and simple design with notes of gold, very classic Yves St Laurent.

With my foundations and base make up there are four main things I tend to look for, which are colour match, coverage, staying power ( without a primer), and lastly price.

Firstly looking at the colour match of the foundation, I use the shade B90 and this is honestly the first foundation that matches my skin to a T. It is the perfect colour for me as it doesn't wash me out nor does it make me look too yellow or too red. It actually brings out the natural tones of my skin and it actually works really well with my current blusher, contour and highlighter colours.

They also have such a large range of colours to match pretty much any skin tone, which why I wad drawn to their counter, a lot of the high end brands tend to only have a few shades for people of colour, and as you know not everyone is the same tone, whether you're Black, White, Asian or any the beautiful colours, shades and tones we all come in!

Now moving on to coverage, I would say that this foundation is medium to high coverage, and it is incredibly buildable, but saying that it is very breathable and not cakey as I have found with more high coverage foundations.

If I were to wear it for a day time look. which is where I only use the foundation on its own as opposed to using blush and all the other face products, I would very easily be able to increase the coverage and turn it into a evening look. I think this would come in handy if you're working and quickly need to change up your look after work.

This is something that I've struggled with in the past when using other foundation, such as an old time favourite, the Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear, in comparison, that foundation is the ultimate high coverage but not buildable whatsoever!

The  Teint Touche Éclat foundation has a dewy finish, which I was a bit apprehensive about when I first got it, because as I have mentioned in previous posts, I'm prone to oily skin, but it worked well for me personally. I think it all depends on how your skins responds to it, but I would not recommend it if you do have very oily skin.

Thirdly, staying power, this is where the foundation let me down a teeny bit if I'm being completely honest. I wore it a few times to some events without a primer, and it just slid all over my face and transferred really easily. However, saying that I have mentioned it is a dewy foundation and combined with my skin type and a long evening or even a hot afternoon, it isn't going to hold up, is it?

I have since started using the Inglot Mattifying Under Make up Base as my primer of choice, and I have not had any problems with it, even at my graduation where it decided to rain all afternoon and evening, and I was decidedly very hot in my robes and very nervous and the foundation did not move at all!

Lastly, I think that this foundation is a reasonable price for a high end foundation especially for a well established and world renowned brand like Yves St Laurent, it retails at £31.50 for a 30ml/ 1 fl oz  in most stores in the UK and you can buy it on the YSL website for the same price.

A little goes a very long way, and I know every beauty blogger says that about foundations, but I use one pump for my whole face for a medium coverage look and about an extra half pump for a full coverage look!

Overall as a foundation it ticks all the boxes for me, and I would highly recommend it for anyone who is in the market for a new high end or anyone who is looking to venture into high end foundations from the drugstore brands for the first time.

I hope you found this review helpful and let me know about any other products and brands you would like to see me review.

Peace out Lovelies
